Due to the lack of industry knowledge regarding
conveyors, most companies do not realize how much a conveyor system will
increase their production, while reducing both cost and general overhead
expenses. Most companies use trucking as their current means of material
transportation. In this day and time, not only is the cost of buying/leasing
the truck expensive, but the fuel used by the truck is costing companies
thousands per year. Also, for every truck used, there must be a driver.
This additional overhead in salary and benefits can be reduced substantially
by one of our conveyors. Here is a real life example:
An aggregate company, we installed
for, was mining sand and stone. Their original method of mining and
hauling was to use an excavator to dig the material out of the ground and
load two 40-ton off-highway trucks with the material. These trucks
would then haul it approximately 1600 ft. along an un-based road to the
plant where the trucks would then dump the material back onto the ground.
Another excavator would then pick the material up off the ground and place
it into the “screen” to be processed.
Straightaway, one can see how much duplication
of effort was being conducted by this company. Traditionally, this
was the only way most aggregate companies knew how to get the material
from point A to point B. This company was removing material from
the ground, placing it in a truck, dumping back onto the ground and then
used another excavator to pick it back up off the ground from whence the
material came initially. After we installed a conveyor system, that
was tailored to their needs, this is how we increased their production
time and reduced overhead costs:
Upon completion of the conveyor
system, the excavator would dig the material out of the ground and load
the material into a “hopper” that feed the material onto the conveyor belt
via gravity flow. The material then traveled on the belt approx.
1600 ft. and dumped it into the “screen” at the plant to be processed.
Not only was the material getting to the plant
faster, but it eliminated both off-highway trucks and an excavator.
No more duplication of effort. If only this company would have known
about our conveyors before they went out and spent the thousands of dollars
to initially set up there inefficient process, they could have saved an
enormous amount of time and money. Stacking trucks end-to-end
could not beat the speed and efficiency of a conveyor system. Imagine
having a steady stream of material being delivered to its final destination
by only “touching” it one time. Now that is true efficiency!
While trucks run only as fast as the law
and weather permits, our conveyor systems can easily haul material at speeds
of up to 1000 feet per minute in any weather condition. As stated
before, there is NO conventional method of material handling that can beat
the speed, and cost efficiency of our conveyor systems.
